How to jump in Don't Die in the West - character on his horse standing on a tall rock.

Don’t Die in the West jump – how to do it?

Are you trying to jump in Don’t Die in the West to reach a remote area but can’t figure out how? Here’s everything you must know. As you explore around, you’ll notice various wooden boxes, chests, and even shiny dirt piles. Some of those will be in remote areas that can only be reached by jumping. However, using the jump button (default hotkey: space) while on foot will result in dashing forward and you won’t be able to get past any bumps on the road. Thankfully, there is a way to jump in the game, and here’s how.

How to jump in Don’t Die in the West

To jump in Don’t Die in the West, ride any mount (horse or donkey) and press the space key. This will allow you to jump over almost anything and reach areas you normally couldn’t.

However, keep in mind that your mount will take fall damage after jumping if it’s a long fall. Similarly, if you jump off a mountain, your horse will die. On the bright side, you won’t take any damage and you’re able to find another mount easily simply by looking for bandits.

Keep in mind that this only works while you’re mounted. If you try to jump while on foot, your character will only dash forward. This can’t go over any small bumps or anything and it definitely can’t jump off cliffs.

As for where to jump, one example is the mountain on the far northeast side of the map, which has a chest you can access only by jumping with your horse. This chest contains an extra Copper Shovel and a Torch. Keep in mind, that this isn’t the only chest with these items. For more details, check out our guide on how to get the Copper Shovel in Don’t Die in the West.

To summarize, you can jump in Don’t Die with the West by using the spacebar hotkey while you’re on a mount. This only works when you’re mounted and your mount will take fall damage normally when falling off high cliffs.
