How to solve the Silent Library puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Silent Library puzzle is located in the Gauntlet of Shar, deep within the game. To find the Silent Library, head to the lowest floor of the Gauntlet of Shar. Navigate through the corridors from the third Faith-Leap trial room and find the entrance to the library. The door may appear to be blocked, but it is actually guarded by a large Librarian orb enemy. Defeat this enemy to remove the barrier and gain access to the Silent Library.
Once inside the Silent Library, you will need to locate the book that holds the answer to the riddle. The book you are looking for is “Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger”. You can find it in the second bookcase along the north side of the room. Be cautious as this bookcase is booby-trapped, so make sure to disarm it before retrieving the book.
With the book in your possession, make your way to the altar in the center of the room. Examine the altar, and you will see the riddle inscribed on its surface: “What can silence the Nightsong?”. This is where you will need to use the book you found. Slot the book into the altar, and it will unlock the Relief of Shar, granting you access to the hidden treasure room.
Proceed through the newly opened passage and reach the hidden treasure room. Directly ahead, you will find an altar holding the coveted Spear of Night.
