Are you trying to understand how to equip and use the Heavy Bow in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora? Here’s what you should know. While you’re given this weapon extremely early, the game doesn’t tell you much about it. Personally, I didn’t use it until I had over 5 hours in the game and unlocked the fourth weapon slot. However, if you’re not using it, you’re missing out. Let’s see what makes the Heavy Bow so great and what you need to do with it.
How to equip the Heavy Bow in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
To equip the Heavy Bow in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, head to the character menu, select the bow from the right and press Square to equip it. Then, you will have to choose a weapon to replace it.
If you have leveled up your skills enough, one of the best skills in Frontiers of Pandora is Well Prepared from the Warrior Tree. This skill will allow you to equip a fourth weapon in your wheel, which is perfect for having the Heavy Bow without sacrificing anything else.
But why should you use the Heavy Bow if you already have the normal Longbow? Let’s see.
How to use the Heavy Bow – is it better than the Longbow?
The Heavy Bow is slower to charge but deals more damage than the Longbow. In slow engagements where you take your time lining up the perfect shot, it’s much better to use the Heavy Bow. Especially when hunting, it will allow you to one-shot most creatures easily if you hit their Weak Spots.
However, its slow charge makes it sub-optimal for fast-paced combat. If you’re attacking an RDA base and you’ve been detected, you’ll have better chances with the Longbow or an RDA weapon like the Assault Rifle. Of course, if you haven’t been detected and want to take down an RDA Robbot by hitting its weakspot, the Heavy Bow is an excellent option for your first shot. Just make sure to switch weapons afterward.
Remember that the Heavy Bow uses different arrows than the long bow. You can craft them from the weapon wheel menu (default hotkey: Q), costing one stick for five arrows.
To summarize, you can equip the Heavy Bow in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora through the character screen. It deals more damage than the Longbow, has a more extended range, and takes more time to charge. It’s great for hunting but not recommended for fast-paced combat. If enemies push you, you’re better off with the Longbow or the Assault Rifle. Also, always equip your strongest bows since they increase your Combat Strength metric.
