When is Super Mario Bros Wonder going to be released?

Luckily, we don’t really need to wonder much. The end of Nintendo’s showcase immediately tells us when this gorgeous 2D sidescroller is coming out on October 20th. Fans will be happy to have this new Mario adventure to spend their Halloween with, despite clearly this not being a horror game. We’re also glad that it’s not a 2024 release.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder gameplay trailer

Gamers can check out the trailer below to see what this new 2D Mario title has in store. Honestly, this already looks like one of the best games in the series on its art style alone. Not to mention the many fantastic ideas we can see in the gameplay. We’re sure Wonder will be fun, and it’s nice to see a mainline installment with a great art style again.

Visuals aside, there are plenty of things to enjoy with the trailer. Being able to turn levels into some kind of fever dream is really neat. Getting to use multiple characters is also great for long-time series fans.

Wonder has shown off quite a few newsworthy bits in its debut trailer. Like the “New” games before it, there appears to be 4-player co-op. Thankfully, it’s not just the same cast from the older games.

Sure, we are getting Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad again but this game finally makes Daisy playable. Daisy has been a fan-favorite for years and players will finally get to use her in a Mario platformer.

New power-ups will also play a part in this game. In addition to talking flowers that change up levels, Mario and co. can turn into spiked balls or elephant people. That’s pretty crazy.

For now, that’s all we know about this Wonderful new 2D platformer. Nintendo fans can also check out our coverage on Super Mario RPG and a character guide for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
