Arrrrr mateys, so we finally got to return to Monkey Island and discovered the secret! Well… kind of. Say what you will but the new point-and-click adventure by Ron Gilbert, Dave Fox and others was surely among the most anticipated titles of 2022. But did you know there are different epilogues to the game? Here we tell you how to get all the Return to Monkey Island endings.

Gilbert had no easy task at all, as not only he was supposed to bring back his touch on a series that, since 1992, had been developed and written by others, but also make it relevant for a potential public that doesn’t have that same kind of nostalgia. Despite some contrary opinions, it is fair to say that Return to Monkey Island satisfied most of the old gamers.

But, if you’re here, you know all this already and you’re looking for a way to get all the Return to Monkey Island endings. So, here we go.

Return to Monkey Island endings

There are actually ten different endings to the game, even though it would be fairer to call them epilogues as the ending is really the same, there are just slight differences in the post-credits scene. The Return to Monkey Island endings are:

• Epilogue #1 – Leave with Elaine, leave the chest key behind: the post-credits scene in the park with Chuckie now having the key.
• Epilogue #2 – Leave with Elaine, take the chest key but don’t use it: a post-credits scene with the key in a pool of lava.
• Epilogue #3 – Leave with Elaine, open the chest and tell your son that it was full of money: a post-credits scene with Boybrush going full-on Uncle Scrooge diving in riches.
• Epilogue #4 – Leave with Elaine, open the chest and tell your son that the secret was the friends made along the way: a post-credits scene with everyone frolicking on the ship.
• Epilogue #5 – Leave with Elaine, open the chest and tell your son the secret should be kept that way: a post-credits scene with the chest catching fire.
• Epilogue #6 – Leave with Elaine, open the chest and tell your son you did not make anything up: a post-credits scene with tickets being pushed on a table.
• Epilogue #7 – Leave with Elaine, open the chest and tell your son there isn’t any one answer: a post-credits scene with a banana balancing on a rock.
• Epilogue #8 – Turn back to the catacombs (open the door with Stan’s key) but leave the chest key: no post-credits scene with the boy but Guybrush returning back with Elaine on the ship.
• Epilogue #9 – Turn back to the catacombs, but get the chest key: a post-credits scene with LeChuck fighting Lila.
• Epilogue #10 – Turn back to the catacombs and open the chest: a post-credits scene with Voodoo Lady.
