It is a side story you can pick up in Clockbank: Industrial District. The quest giver is a man who claims that his ancestors were royalty in the region.

How to complete descended from royalty in Octopath Traveler 2

To begin this quest, you will need to make your way to Clockbank in the second half of town, on the far east side. There is a woman with a drunk man who insists he is a Royal Descendant. You will get the descended from royalty quest from this man, who is even named Royal Descendant.

Now, you can actually prove that this man is royalty. Make your way to the Abandoned Village south of Cape Cold. It’s not too far from Flamechurch. There, you will find one person still in town, in a house near the eastern exit. 

If anyone has an item in their inventory with a diamond next to its name, it’s important. You should ideally steal or buy this item if possible, as it will save you a lot of time later.

Well, in this person’s inventory, you’ll find the Nyx Royal Family Tree. Once you have collected the item, return to Clockbank. 

Now, all you need to do is give the item to the Royal Descendant. This concludes the Octopath Traveler 2 Royalty quest. You will get 6,000 leaves and a Resistant Nut (M) as rewards.
