The layoffs occurred only weeks after UK-based studio Flavourworks acquired Telltale Games. The exact number of employees who have been let go from this game studio has not been revealed. Jonah Huang, the former Telltale Games dev, did reveal that he received a severance package.

This tweet above by Jonah Huang shed some light on the current layoffs at Telltale Games.

This game studio was also subject to mass layoffs back in 2018, when over 90 percent of the staff were let go. The studio itself had to close down the next year. Almost a year after its closure, the studio was resurrected with the help of the current Telltale Games CEO, Jamie Ottilie, and many other investors.

In their statement to Game Informer, Telltale Games stated that they “did not take this action lightly, and our commitment to storytelling and finding new ways to do so remains the same. We are grateful to everyone for their dedication along this journey, and we are working to support everyone impacted.”

The last major update from Telltale Games was when they released the teaser trailer for Wolf Among Us 2 during The Game Awards 2019. But this game has since been delayed to 2024.
