First revealed during the Game Awards of 2022, the expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be shaping up as a reality. We will probably get a chance to play it soon. But how soon? That’s what we’re all asking. Let’s then find out all about Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty release date.
There have definitely been a lot of rumors floating around lately, but so far nothing really solid seems to have leaked. But, considering CD Projekt’s firm will to make up for the shaky debut of Cyberpunk, we sure know that the expansion is going to be great.
So let’s dive in and find out all we know about Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty release date.
Phantom Liberty release date
The expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on September 26 2023. This is in line with the original rumor which was all about the game being out after Summer. Phantom Liberty is shaping up to be an official DLC which will overhaul the entire game. Fans are definitely looking forward to it.
Phantom Liberty will be available to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players. So far, it seems it is not targeting a release on PS4 and Xbox One.
Let’s take a look at what we know based on the trailers.
Phantom Liberty story
In the first “Phantom Liberty” trailer, V is heard taking an oath to serve the New United States of America. Perhaps, they are working for the government? Someone who looks like a powerful woman is also shown. Perhaps she is Rosalind Myers, the President of the NUSA. Another mysterious woman appears to be an Engram, a digital copy of a person’s consciousness, standing on a stadium while a plane crashes down.
Fans will be happy to know that Keanu Reeves is returning as Johnny Silverhand. Together with him, Idris Elba is FIA Agent Solomon Reed. Solomon is likely a professional secret agent who wants to establish peace by burning Dogtown, a new location in the game, to the ground.
Phantom Liberty gameplay
Details on the new gameplay elements in Phantom Liberty are scarce, but players can expect to see a range of new weapons and cyberware. The first teaser includes a sequence of three short combat clips featuring a whip, a shotgun, and a katana. Even more, a CD Projekt Red spokesperson has confirmed that Phantom Liberty will be the studio’s biggest expansion to date. However, specific details on the game’s scope will be revealed at a later time.
In the second trailer, a Ripperdoc is placing a cybernetic faceplate on V. As the expansion focuses on espionage, this could be part of a disguise for the game’s storyline. It’s also possible that the faceplate provides new abilities, which could add to the gameplay experience.
