What are the win conditions for Age of Wonders 4?

In the game, you can achieve one of four Victory Conditions: Military, Expansion, Magic, and Score. Each condition requires different strategies, and understanding how to achieve them is crucial to succeed in the game. Let’s dive into the four conditions one by one.

To win the Military Victory, players need to defeat all the other Empires. There are two ways to get rid of opposition: banishing the enemy Rulers into the Void and conquering their Throne City or making them your Vassal.

For pacifists or diplomats, the Expansion Victory condition entails controlling a significant number of Provinces (whose number varies based on the map size) and triggering the Beacons of Unity event. To do so, players must construct three Beacons of Unity in different Cities and light them all after controlling enough Provinces. This triggers a 15-turn countdown, during which rebels will spawn around the beacons. To win, players must defend all three Beacons for 15 turns, preventing them from winning without warning.

For defensive players, the Magic Victory condition requires building three Affinity Province Improvements: Seed, Root, and Heart. These are unlocked by reading higher-tier Tomes: Tier 3, Tier 4, and Tier 5, respectively. To win, players must build all three in different cities and perform the final Ritual.

You can achieve the Score Victory condition by having the most points after reaching the turn limit. This limit is 150 turns by default. Score Victory is rare and typically only serves as a tie-breaker.
